Traditionally, an employee would activate a robbery alarm after the robber left the facility. Now the preferred method is for the actual victim employee to call 9-1-1 immediately after the robbery -- and other employees may then activate the alarm. This employee may be able to provide the responding law enforcement agents directly with suspect descriptions and direction of travel more quickly. If the victim employee only activates the robbery alarm, he/she may have actually added 4 - 8 minutes to the cops' response time.
Robbers are often arrested by the cops within one mile of the crime scene and within one hour from the time of the robbery. Quick is better . . .
