Holds and new accounts

Answered by:

Question:
How long can we hold a personal check drawn on a bank in another state deposited to a new account?
Answer:

The regulation sets hold limits only for so-called “next-day” items deposited to a new account. But you do have to disclose how long you’ll hold such a check deposit, which will establish your bank’s limit on that kind of hold.
