Joint Credit Notice on Mortgage Applications

Answered by:

Question:
What is the purpose for the separate "Regulation B Notice of Intent to Apply for Joint Credit" for mortgage loan applicants?
Answer:

The purpose is to verify that the application is in fact intended to be joint.

The origination is from commercial and ag loans made jointly when financials and tax returns were submitted to support individual credit requests.

There is still some question as to when the "joint request notice" is actually required and by whom. Regulatory guidance will hopefully clear these issues.
