Lending Reports to the Board of Directors

Answered by:

Question:
What specific lending information should be reported to the board on a periodic basis?
Answer:

This could be a very long answer, but the content is truly based on your own policy, procedures and volumes. You may also want to divide this between monthly and quarterly reviews. First I would refer you to the OCC's Director's Book. For loans, focus on pages 49-54. Pick out some of the things you'd want to focus on:

  • new loan volume
  • insider loans
  • loans over a predetermined threshold
  • borrowers near the legal lending limit
  • delinquencies
  • charge offs
  • recoveries
  • exceptions to policy
  • concentrations of credit
  • ALLL
  • Loan review exceptions and reports
