Marketing - Obtaining Customer Information

Answered by:

Question:
To what extent is the investment center permitted to obtain customer information from the bank for marketing solicitation purposes?
Answer:

Is the investment center part of the bank or is it a separate subsidiary company? If it is part of the bank, there is no restriction on information sharing within the bank in this regard. If the investment center is an affiliated company of the bank, then the affiliate sharing rules apply. Any non-public personal financial information sharing for marketing purposes first requires that the bank explain the sharing and give the customer the option to opt-out of the sharing.
