NSF Fee on a Savings Account?

Answered by:

Question:
Can a NSF fee be charged on a savings account?
Answer:

If state law doesn't prohibit such a fee and if your bank makes appropriate disclosures of the fee, it can be charged. Just take note, however, that section 205.17 of Regulation E applies to savings accounts accessible by ATM or debit card, just as it applies to transaction accounts with such access.
