Original Signatures Required to Open New CD?

Answered by:

Question:
If we have a long-time client that lives in Mexico, and his/her COD is about to mature and wants to renew it (for a longer period), do we need original signatures to open the new CD? The client does not travel much at the present time due to the current violence in their country, and is not able to make it to our banking facility to renew the CD. What regulation would cover this? If any?
Answer:

This is a matter of contract law and has nothing to do with regulations. Your state laws govern contracts. Try your state forum in the BOL threads, or refer to state law.
