How long are we required to keep checks and deposits presented over the counter? We are sending and receiving images electronically.

Answer:

As far as I know, there is no established retention period for the actual paper items. As a matter of practicality, your operations staff will probably want you to keep them as long as it takes to verify image quality. After that, retaining the originals becomes a security problem and most banks would prefer to destroy (shred) these items as soon as possible.
