Payroll checks ineligible for ACH conversion

Question:
A “big box store” converted a payroll check drawn on our business customer’s account into an ACH POP entry. Our customer didn’t authorize the conversion, and he’s going ballistic. Can we return this entry?
Answer:

Yes, you can return it using an R10 return code because the check wasn’t an Eligible Source Document for conversion (and there was no valid authorization).
