Personal Property of the Tellers

Answered by:

Question:
Our tellers keep their purses at their teller stations. I was always taught that they should keep them with their coats in the lounge. Is there any law that can give some guidance on this?
Answer:

The theory behind not having purses at the teller station is to make it more difficult to conceal stolen cash. I'm not aware of a specific law that would govern this, though. I can understand concerns that the tellers might have in leaving their purses out of their sight, in a location where others could access them. One possible solution might be to provide a small locker in the coat area where the tellers could lock their purses.
