Personal Video Recordings in Branches

Answered by:

Question:
I have a question about cameras and recording because it has come up a few times now that everyone has smartphones, and I would like to know what you suggest. We had a situation where one of the tellers thought that a member was recording them. After reviewing our internal video, we didn’t see this happening but it is very possible that they could have. What do you suggest that we do to prevent this happening in the future?
Answer:

We recommend that a sign(s) be posted in your lobbies and other critical areas that states, "No voice or video recordings allowed on premises!” Should someone comment negatively about the signs, staff can respond that the policy is due to privacy concerns for other members. Social media is full of interactions with businesses and law enforcement where recordings are released causing negative reactions or publicity.
