Pulling a Tri-credit Report for Fraud Victim

Answered by:

Question:
We have a customer that is a victim of fraud. The customer called several different credit reporting agencies to get information and received several different answers regarding credit information. The customer wants us to pull a tri-credit report for them. Would this be a permissible purpose to pull the credit report?
Answer:

There is just no upside for the bank to get involved in this. Lender credit reports are not consumer friendly. Likely, it would also violate your contract with the credit bureaus. Send them to the following website and they can obtain credit reports for free from all three major CRAs. https://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/free-credit-reports
