Reg D Restricted Transactions-Online Transfers

Answered by:

Question:
Are online banking transfers between like titled checking and savings or MMS accounts considered restricted transactions for Reg D purposes?
Answer:

Reg D provides that some transfers don't count toward the limit that would make the account a transaction account as opposed to a "savings" account (including money market accounts). Those transfers would include any transfer TO the savings or money market account. They would also include any transfer FROM the savings or money market account conducted by mail, messenger, ATM, or in-person. Transfers from the savings or money market account conducted through online banking would count toward the limit.
