Reg E Letter-Minimum Dollar Amount for Disputes

Answered by:

Question:
Is there a minimum dollar amount for member disputes that we do not need to send a letter granting provisional credit and final resolution letter?
Answer:

The only written communciation that is required by Reg E is the notification that you have denied a claim and the customer's right to obtain the documentation you used to deny the claim. This is found in Reg E Section 205.11(d)(1). You may provide notice of provisional and final credit orally provided that you can document that this notification took place. Notification, (oral or written) is required regardless of the dollar amount of the claim.
