Regulations for Online Marketing

Answered by:

Question:
Where do I find regulations for a business account we have that is an online marketing business? It promotes a number of services such as identity theft, remotely creates checks and deposits into accounts at the bank.
Answer:

First, I'd recommend reviewing the CAN-SPAM Act if you are advertising via email. You need to know who you can and can't solicit based on opt-out requests.

Next, I'd refer you to a best practices document from the FTC. While the CAN-SPAM Act is directly associated with your question, many existing laws, such as those addressing Unfair and Deceptive Acts or Practices also apply. You won't find a single source with all you need to know. The FTC document will certainly help make you aware of what to address.
