SAR Renewal- New Activity with Continued Activity

Answered by:

Question:
When doing a SAR renewal if new activity is discovered along with continued activity of previous filed SAR can the new information be included in the renewed SAR or must a new SAR be completed with the renewed SAR only containing the continued activity?
Answer:

File a single SAR incorporating all suspicious activity.

If the new activity arises within the 90 day period following your last SAR it starts the clock running. For example, your first SAR was filed on structuring on May 1. On June 15 you conclude the customer is involved in a different type of suspicious activity. Your 30 day filing period begins on June 15.
