SCRA protections claimed by ineligible borrowers

Question:
How would you respond to a borrower who insists he or she gets SCRA protection based on employment overseas with the State Department or one of the federal law enforcement agencies (e.g., FBI)?
Answer:

The “S” in “SCRA” is for “Servicemembers.” Your bank may opt to allow protections for other government employees, but you are certainly not required to do so. We have heard about similar requests in the past. But these people are not protected under the SCRA and you have no obligation to agree to their requests.
