Answer by John Burnett: Those banks that don't sell cashier's checks at drive-up or walk-up windows are usually concerned about the time needed to complete the transaction, which may be a cause for complaints from other customers waiting in queue to complete their business. It's the same reason that many banks don't accept some business deposits or cash savings bonds or other complex (read: time-consuming) transactions and some banks have set transaction count levels per vehicle.
