Social Security and deceased customers

Question:
How long does it take for Social Security to act after a Social Security beneficiary dies?
Answer:

Federal law requires that funeral homes and other “required reporters” notify the Social Security Administration very quickly after they learn of a death. Unless there is a failure to report or other problem with the information stream, it’s not unusual for SSA to act within two weeks.
