Suspicious Activity Investigation Recordkeeping

Answered by:

Question:
When an investigation into alleged suspicious activity by a customer is determined not to be suspicious, how long must the records be kept?
Answer:

Standard BSA retention is five years on everything. If you are cited for a problem with SAR filings and are ordered to do a look back by the regulators, these historical files might come in very handy.
