Turning Video Over to Police - Subpoena Required?

Answered by:

Question:
Do police need a subpoena for copies of bank video surveillance?
Answer:

This depends on whose case the police are working on when they requested your video. If this is a case you filed and want prosecution on you are free to provide them with what they need. If this is another case that has nothing to do with your financial institution then you will want a subpoena. If you are unsure about anything, you will want your bank's legal counsel to review it before making a decision. First published on BankersOnline.com 3/30/09
