We are wondering what all constitutes a monetary instrument. Does a CD purchased with over $3000 in cash need to have a transaction log filled out?
Answer: 

A monetary instrument would be negotiable at another financial institution. It would include things like cashiers checks, money orders, and travelers checks. It would not include a CD.
