What Does "Indexing" Actually Mean?

What is indexing?

Indexing is a step in the capture process that ensures a document can be easily retrieved by assigning values such as a customer name, account number, and/or document title. Indexing can be as basic as placing a document into a file folder or as advanced as using barcode scanners or OCRs to automatically index files.
