When scam victim refuses to close account

Our customer has, on more than one occasion, put his checkbook where untrustworthy individuals have gained access and he’s also given out his account info to scammers. We have told him he needs to close his existing account and open a new one. He refuses. Is there anything we can do?

Yes. Close his account. At this point, it could be alleged that you know or should have known that the customer’s account could be raided and there will be an expectation you’re going to guard against it. Problem is, you can’t afford to babysit. If he won’t close it, you should.
