"Work Purpose Only" Social Security Cards

Answered by:

Question:
Can we accept "for work purpose only" social security cards to open accounts?
Answer:

You need an identifying number to open an account, not a card. You may accept a U.S. issued TIN from both a U.S. person and a non U.S. person regardless of the purpose for which the TIN was issued.
