Bank of Blunders

BOL's Executive Editor Mary Beth Guard developed this role-playing game for compliance training and originally published it in the OBA Compliance Informer. It involves a routine day at the fictional "Bank of Blunders". Each time she's used it, it has produced lots of laughter and comments such as "You can't believe how often we actually hear things like this!" You can use the full version of the script to cover both operations and lending, or you can use the separate scripts to focus on one or the other.

When Mary Beth has used it for training sessions, she passed out small "clickers" to all the audience members and tells audience members to start clicking any time one of the people playing the role of a bank employees says or does something that would be a compliance problem. It turns into a regular clickfest because people really enjoy spotting the blunders. Each time the clicking commences, the moderator stops and asks "Okay, why is that a problem" and the attendees discuss it. (You could also use whistles or some other type of noisemakers, but people really seem to like the clickers.
