FEMA suspending communities
FEMA has published two final rules in today's Federal Register suspending communities from the National Flood Insurance Program for failure to comply with the floodplain management requirements of the program. Under the first rule, published at 83 FR 67094, the City of Valdez, Alaska, will be suspended as of January 3, 2019. Under the second rule, at 83 FR 67095, the following communities will be suspended as of January 18, 2019:
- Florida: Inglis (Levy County)
- Oregon: Sandy and unincorporated areas of Clackamas County
- South Carolina: Greenville and unincorporated areas of Greenville County
- Washington: Bellingham, Blaine, Everson, Fernsale, Lummi Indian Reservation, Lynden, Nooksack, Sumas, and unincorporated areas of Whatcom County
