Recent OFAC actions reported

Yesterday, Treasury reported that OFAC has designated seven senior leaders within Iran’s government and security apparatus for the shutdown of Iran’s Internet access and the continued violence against peaceful protesters in the wake of the tragic death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini, who was arrested for allegedly wearing a hijab improperly, and died in the custody of Iran’s Morality Police.

Treasury also announced that OFAC has sanctioned three individuals and one entity connected to Burma’s military regime pursuant to Executive Order 14014.

This morning, Treasury announced that OFAC has targeted a North Korean fuel procurement network, designating two individuals and three entities for activities related to the exportation of petroleum to North Korea, and that, in a separate action, OFAC has sanctioned a wildlife trafficking organized crime group by designating Malaysian national Teo Boon Ching, the Teo Boon Ching Wildlife Trafficking Transnational Criminal Organization, and the Malaysian company Sunrise Greenland Sdn. Bhd. for the cruel trafficking of endangered and threatened wildlife and the products of brutal poaching.
