Course description

The Suspicious Activity Report is one of the most complex and confusing regulatory forms financial institutions are required to complete to report suspicious activity.  Is there a difference between human smuggling and human trafficking or avoiding CTR recordkeeping requirements versus CTR reporting requirements?  While the updated SAR from has been in circulation for over 10 years, there is still much confusion under which circumstances to mark which box and what exactly constitutes a comprehensive narrative.  This webinar does not rehash the FinCEN SAR filing instructions but does a deep dive into how each are is completed and why those respective areas are important to law enforcement.

This information packed 60 minute webinar will cover the SAR form line by line, along with detailed instructions on how to complete an effective narrative.  We will discuss what the regulatory expectations are, and common examination findings related to financial institutions who have gotten it wrong.  This webinar discusses which areas are most beneficial to law enforcement in their investigation and a  common-sense approach to drafting a comprehensive narrative that states the facts law enforcement agencies find beneficial.  Finally, we will present common SAR filing scenarios which often give financial institutions pause on whether or not to file.
