Course description

Every institution should conduct a comprehensive security review at least annually, and more frequently if there are changes within the environment.  In this session, you will discover effective methods for assessing your facilities and how critical these assessments are to providing a safe environment for your employees and customers.  Is your bank an attractive target for robbers? We will teach you ways to use Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) principles to make your office (and home) a less desirable target for criminals. CPTED is simply the proper design and effective use of the built environment to deter crime.   Applying this philosophy can lead to a reduction in fear and actual occurrence of crime.  Using photographs and examples to illustrate, we will look at effective and ineffective uses of lighting and landscaping.  We will also discuss branch design features that put you and your customers at greater risk, and best practices for eliminating these issues.  Attendees will gain an understanding of security assessments, their importance, and how they can apply CPTED principles to more effectively protect their employees, customers, and facilities.
