There are good dog training videos on YouTube. Lots of helpful hints if you can't afford training classes.

You might also check with a doxie rescue or your local humane society for training tips and suggestions.

out of the frying pan...
re: chewing - try puting cayenne pepper on a few things you know are chewing temptation but that you don't want her to eat. Make sure it's nothing you don't mind getting a little stained. We had to paint cayenne on table legs, etc. when our heeler mix was a pup. She would chew up ANYTHING she could reach!

She doesn't mean just shake the pepper at the table leg. You make a paste of it. You can use hot sauce and flour. Anything foul tasting combination will probably work. Just mix it and paint it on the areas you don't want the dog to go after.

and if you are LUCKY, they won't develop a "taste" for it. My dogs kinda like spicy food!

Yeah, the heeler eventually decided she liked tobasco, but luckily she was outgrowing the 'must chew EVERYTHING' compulsion by that point. I recently just shook cayenne along a couple of boards in the barn that one of my horses decided were yummy (didn't feel like doing the paste routine). He doesn't like them anymore.

LOL... bought some liquid stuff (cayene based) to spray on my bushes and plants outside because my lab was chewing the heck out of them and she loves it! I don't use it anymore because it sends her into a frenzy and rips up whatever I spray it on. crazy

Besides putting up some low fencing to keep the dog away from the flowers or confining her to a different area, go to your local PetSmart or the like. Look for a spray called either Off! or No!. There are indoor and outdoor varieties. You just spray the area you want the dog to stay away from. Not expensive either. You might also check PetSmart for puppy classes. They're not expensive and may help Abby.

You can also try a spray called Bitter Apple. Not harmful but they hate the taste.
