Why are people so mean sometimes???

Yes - someone who's never even met me!!! She's never met me and she already hates me. I just don't understand people sometimes. And I hate planning things (bridal showers in particular....)!!!!!

Sounds like someone needs to vent! What's going on? Workplace drama? (If a wedding is involved, it sounds more like family drama...)

I definitely feel like venting. I've just had it! I feel like going home and opening up a nice big bottle of vino! I'm the maid of honor in a friend's wedding and the rest of the bridesmaids suck!

Could be they're jealous that you're the Maid of Honor ?!?!?

I have a bumper sticker in my garage that would fit perfectly. All it says is "mean people suck." I would go for a bottle of vino if I were you too!

I don't even know! If that's the case, she can have it! I'm such a sally too. I hate confrontation. If she's mean to me, I'll probably end up crying!

I just don't get how/why people decide that they're going to hate you without even knowing you.

Good idea. Get the Wine, watch a copy of mean girls tonight while drinking said wine, and smile tomorrow, while thinking about how HIGH SCHOOL they are behaving!

They really are behaving like high school. I'm 27, but I think they're younger. Not that that makes a difference!

Oh, the bride knows. The wedding is in May and I feel that the shower should be in March. I need to book this and I wanted to get everyone's input. I've just decided that if I don't hear back from these two girls (who are sisters!) by tomorrow, I'm just doing my own thing.

The shoulder is always here. Just go with your gut on the bookings, and think that by the 4th of July, you will be through with it all. (Time kind of goes at warp speed for me, so thinking of the 4th doesn't seem that long.)

Remember the bottom line, it's not about you or the two sister's - it's about someone elses most important day of life -

I tried the everyone's input thing for a shower once. Then, after everyone agreed and the hall was booked, the groom's mother and sister went off the deep end and told me (Matron of Honor and bride's sister) that I had no right to plan the shower and no one from their side of the family would come.

If you've given them a chance to have a say and they haven't responded, that's their say. You were chosen the Maid of Honor for a reason. Hold your head high and forge ahead with your plans.

And buy a whole case of wine. Sounds like you'll need it before the wedding is over.

Forget the wine, go rent a jacuzzi suite at a local hotel, invite the bride to be, get a bottle of champagne, and kick it for New Years!

Weddings are a nightmare. Esp when you're not the bride and can't use the excuse "You'll do it my way because I'm the Bride and I said so." Just plan ahead and work around the two evil sisters. Good luck.

Point of etiquette - family shouldn't be giving the shower anyway. But it was awfully nice of you to do it and she certainly should have at a minimum thanked you effusively.
