We've submitted our HMDA data on 2/25 and on 3/1 we received notification that it was received.....

So far we have heard nothing......They normally send something to check....but they have been silent...

We've tried e-mailing them, calling them...but they are still silent....

What do you think...should we worry...I wouldn't know what else to do but wait....

We submitted our data on 2/25 as well (right at 5, if I remember right) and we received our edit information & stuff back on 3/8. I was getting nervous as well and on 3/7 emailed them, but never heard a response, unless, I guess the fax was their response. When we submitted our data, the information said to wait 10 business days and then call if we hadn't heard anything.

I submitted on the 22nd, did the edit checks and found some business loans that had race & ethnicity reported, so resubmitted on the 28th. They also had an error on our Q595 page (they didn't take into account the 1-1-04 MSA changes - now we have branches in 2 different MSAs).

I just received the new edit package via fax this afternoon. I think they're swamped.

I have received my edit suggestions back (from a submission on the 26th). We've resubmitted and haven't heard anything, but my understanding is that they're swamped because of the changes to the reg this year. If you hadn't received notice they received it, I'd worry, but it sounds like you're ok there

Go on vacation and worry about it later

I agree with Dawnie's "go on vacation" sentiment, but I'll add one caution. The edit package I received today (Friday March 11) had a 'respond by March 14 or else' deadline. Not so bad if you receive on Monday - but had I taken a 4-day weekend starting today, I'd have been hosed...

Well go on vacation with back up silly (I was kidding about that, but a mental vacation at your desk would be ok).

I go over my edits prior to submission, so being here isn't important since I know what's going to come back to me. Anyone can make sure the same deals are on that list as mine and initial the "ok"

Back up? What's back up? All I know is, my neck hurts from the weight of all these hats.

The other big issue is that the FRB is also processing and providing HMDA help for HUD submitters this year. (A last minute deal announced in late November) I have a feeling they had no idea of the issues that mortgage bankers would bring to the table.

I'm starting to panic . We recieved confirmation that they recieved our report and that they were mailing a CD with the edits. We were told to wait 10 days (which was up 3/8). We've tried emailing, calling, and faxing - but haven't received a response from anyone.

Any sugestions?

That is the first time I have heard of edits being mailed on a CD. My edits were faxed to me, 50 some-odd pages of Q's. Do you have an exceptionally large number??

I'm with renniks...a CD would scare me. Have you run an edit report yet to see how bad things are?

The manager responsible for reporting the HMDA data stated we had 3,000 loans that came up on the edit checks, but they were all valid.

I'm still new to compliance, and this is the first time I've been involved with HMDA reporting. Although we did process a scrub to ensure we were in compliance with the 2004 changes.

3000? How many records did you submit? That does seem to be quite a bit...unless you're BofA.

I'm expecting over 3000 quality edits for our lead bank. We do a fair number a loans to business entities, and of course, there are always a bunch of employee loans, add some multi-family properties and a handful of miscellaneous edits, and they add up pretty quickly!

Just the reason I asked HMDAgal If it were my bank, I'd be highly concerned that I'd missed a major data issue (because that would be close to the number of records). If I were much larger, it would be no biggie.

Are you getting it in CD form as well then? That little piece of info might help the original poster.

We actually have 3 charters. The smallest one was sent via regular mail. The regulator for my biggest submission sent me a fax saying they would email the edit report, but I haven't received it yet. I haven't heard a word about the other submission.

I'm trying to be patient, but I'd really like to wrap up 2004!

Talk about patience...I'm still trying to wrap up 2001! My exam happened in December and I can't go on vacation until the thing comes back to us

What is the phone number for HMDA at the Fed?

We submitted on 2-28 and recd the confirming email, but no edits. I emailed them on 3-10, still no edits and no response to email. Something is very wrong here, I know we have edits.

I am also sending an email to my examiner to put them on notice.

There is some sort of problem at the Fed, and a lot of people (everyone who reported after 2/24/05 from what I can tell) are not getting responses. The phone number to call is 202-452-2016 or you can email them at HMDAHELP@frb.gov. Don't expect a fast response, however.

I did 3 submissions - 1 on the 24th, 2 on the 25th. I finally got my last edit report emailed to me today. It's about 3,000 quality edits, so I'll be ready for a drink when I finish reviewing them!

No, don't be worried. All the 2004 changes and the problem Michael P pointed out has the Feds swamped and just not keeping up very well. Send out the emails to notify the Feds and your examiner that you're still waiting. CC yourself so you have a copy. Then just wait...but don't worry. Let us know when you hear from them.
