If a Bank's website has a "childrens page" and the Bank does not request any personal information from the child, but the page contains several links to websites, some of which have user name and password prompts (indicating information could possibly be requested from the child) is the Bank required to post a notice on the website stating the Bank does not collect information but the page contains links to other websites that may? Basically, what does the Bank need to disclose on the website to be in compliance with the reg?

Here are the rules. There's a simple test for coverage but complicated and expensive steps you must take if you're covered.

Maybe it does not matter. Has COPPA been overturned?

Time to get those bifocals checked, Al. "COPA" was overturned, "COPPA" is still good law. Adding to the confusion, both of these laws came from the same piece of legislation. If you trace them back to enactment, you'll find they both have the same bill number.

Ok-kind of along the same lines as Caseyboo's question. But Visa is doing a promotion beginning June 7, which is open to anyone-no purchase necessary. (They service our debit cards.) IT wants to "link" to their website where a child (because anyone can enter-but if a child's name is drawn, his parent or gaurdian will sign all winner's paperwork)may be asked for name and address to enter the contest. We do not otherise ask for any child's information. Would we now have to include the child's privacy disclosure on our website, or is posting a speedbump - saying you are leaving our site before being taken to Visa's enough? Thank you.
