What Is The Reg E Definition of POS?

Question:
What is the Reg E definition of POS? I am trying to determine which transactions fall within the 45/90 day timeline. We were informed that all debit card transactions are considered POS because they are transactions that occurred with a merchant and not necessarily at a terminal. If this is true, then do we really have 90 days (from the original claim date) to resolve the dispute as long as provisional credit is provided? Also, can you tell me what items fall within the 45 day timeline if provisional credit is provided?
Answer:

Brian Crow: Reg E does not segregate transactions done in person, over the phone, or online using a debit card. They are all considered Point-of-sale (POS) and have the investigation extended to 90 days. Generally, the only ATM/debit card related investigations that utilize the 45-day investgation timeframe are ATM withdrawals initiated within a state.

Answer:

John Burnett: You can also take note that you can take up to 90 days for error claims involving domestic ATM transactions that posted or occurred within 30 days after the first deposit was made to the account affected.
