Check Imaging

Answered by:

Question:
How are banks that are exchanging images providing the actual checks to their customers who have requested to receive their original items back?
Answer:

In most cases, these banks will not be able to provide the actual checks. They will either have to convince their customers they can survive very nicely with images of their checks, or, when the customer cannot be satisfied by an image, the best the bank can offer is a substitute check. That will, of course, require an understanding of the legal standing of a substitute check, so that the bank can explain it to its customer.
