At Least She Didn't Beep!

This is one of our favorite drive-up window stories?

A female customer who was not known to the teller drove into the drive-through and sent in the container with a check payable to her drawn on another bank. She told the teller she wanted to cash the check. She had written her account number under her endorsement on the back of the check.

The policy of the financial institution was that, for encashment, the teller had to have additional identification. So she sent the check back to the woman. "I'll have to see your license and get the number off it before I can cash this," she said through the microphone to the customer.

The lady took the check out of the container, put it on the seat beside her, and drove away. A few minutes later she was back. Same drive-in window. Same teller. Sent in the same check by itself again, with the same request for encashment.

Once more the teller sent the check back to her, repeating the fact that before she could negotiate the check she had to see the customer's license.

"Well!" said the indignant woman. "Didn't you see it on the back of my car when I drove away the last time?"
