How Many Days to Report Charge-Off/Credit Card

Answered by:

Question:
How many days does a financial institution have to report a charge-off loan or credit card to the Credit Reporting Agencies?
Answer:

Do you mean how many days after charge-off do you have to report it to the credit bureau? There is no regulatory requirement to report anything to a credit bureau. You would have to look at your contract with the credit bureau regarding any agreements to report information. Since most reporting is automated through core loan platform systems, this should be an automatic process in your next normal reporting cycle, which is normally once a month.
