Agree. I do love the thought of summer, but by the time August rolls around...I'm sick of it. I do wish we could have long days every day tho! DD, squirrel season starts here on Thursday..I'm shocked..it's WAY to hot to be squirrel season...they gotta still have those leeches on them!

It's always been Fall. Nothing beats a motorcycle ride at 55 degrees through a bunch of trees while the leaves are changing. I miss Iowa a lot for this reason. I get about 2 weeks of this each year in Oklahoma. Of course, there is always football season for a reason to love Fall. Appropos of nothing, I saw a Honda Goldwing going down the road with a bike rack on the back of it with a Cervelo on it. It made me laugh and smile!

FINALLY ABOVE the gnat line
|
It was 104 here Tuesday, 89 yesterday, and 91 today - hot, muggy, uncomfortable - definitely not a dry heat. Too hot to stay outside and do anything - for me anyway. Not to mention the gnats - they go away with Autumn. This is why I didn't say summer - now when I lived in FL - maybe summer - the breeze off the water keeps those temps bearable.

Joker - when we lived in Georgia my husband would say that there were four seasons. Three of hot and one of not-so-hot. I've always heard them as "almost summer, summer, still summer, and Christmas."

Our summer has been more like spring/fall, with frequent rain, and temps that haven't been above 80 since late July. Not great for swimming, but good for most other outdoor activities. And with the Pirates in first place, what more could you ask for?

Not cool!
Though, truthfully all long-suffering Pirate fans are awaiting the inevitable collapse.

Way, way south.

They were doing great last year as well, at least until I went to a game and then the perpetual rapid downward started. Sigh.
