Has anyone heard any more about the Army rep who claimed the items from the bridge victim? I have mentioned that story to others in the bank and no one has heard about it anywhere else. We are just wondering how Bankers Online got a story that doesn't seem to have hit the general news.

This story has been covered extensively by newspaper and television stations in eastern Oklahoma. Check out websites from TV stations in Tulsa and you will find it.

This is one of many stories BOL brought you first -- from the Lopez case on social security offsets to the Cathey case on SSCRA.

The impostor was just arrested. He scammed a truck dealership in Searcy, Arkansas -- again telling them that he was involved in the bridge collapse recovery effort. He managed to drive off the lot with a truck before they realized he had conned them. He was arrested trying to get on a ferry to cross over into Canada with the truck.

Read the latest about his capture.

It's sort of poetic justice that this SOB, who used a river-related tragedy as his phony background, got hung up by another river!

Still have not see a thing about this on local news, here in San Diego. Seems like the best way to cross the border sucessfully is swim, but that means taking a bath. They are not making machines that sniff out these idiots for no reason.

Call your local station and complain. This is an incredibly relevant story. Social engineering is BIG! As is scamming victims of tragedy. I guess the good people of San Diego will just have to get scammed to learn. But if you do not complain, your local station will not know that you care.

Hey, if the TV news people in your cities are anything like here in Birmingham, Alabama, they are more interested in "feel good" stories and community stuff than any real news. Maybe they don't report anything that they think could remotely get them sued. When they do decide to report any real news,it's already old and they report it over and over for days on end.
