Sorry-not as familiar with SCRA as I wish I were.

We have a wife that signed her dower rights on a mortgage that we are now foreclosing on. Because she was not an applicant, we never obtained her social security number and therefore we can't verify if she is in the military or not-which we typical do before beginning any foreclosure.

While we include the notice in the letter, are we actually required to verify this prior to being notified by the mortgagors?

You have to certify to the best of your knowledge the person is not active military. How you do this absent pertinent information is a discussion you should have with your attorney.
