tape down the button on the telephone so when they answer the phone, it keeps ringing.

Our local radio station was doing time and weather updates and kept saying the time was a half hour ahead. Some people called and left messages that they were at work early because of this "error". It was pretty funny.

When I was in college I lived in a four bedroom apartment with 2 other guys (so we had one empty room). Two rooms upstairs and two rooms downstairs.
Well one of my roommates lived downstairs across the hall from the empty room - so when he was at class on April Fool's day me and the other roommate made a map of his room, then moved everything to the empty room and put it exactly where it was so it like a mirror image.
Took forever to do, and he didn't even realize it for about half an hour.

I had an employee once that had hundreds of post-its on her monitor, desk, and calendar. Me and several co-workers then labeled everything in her office with post-its. Pretty silly, but we had fun doing it.
This one is dated - but taking the trackball out of a co-worker's mouse.
I have others, but I can't print them...

A great, but subtle one is to go to the settings on their computer and change the left and right buttons on their mouse. I've done it numerous times and have always gotten a good laugh!

Vaseline on the handles of teller/desk drawers. Taping down the paperfeed button on an adding machine or teller machine that is turned off. Taping teller/desk drawers shut. Clear plastic wrap over the toilet bowl....... Ahhh the memories!

Anyone else notice that the bankersonline.com thing at the top of the screen is upside-down today?

You can also go into the display settings and change all of their colors to white or black - makes people freak out.

I don't remember how to do it but I had a boss once do a screen print of my desktop and then somehow she set it over my real desktop so my mouse worked fine but anything I clicked on would not work. Not even the start button. All I had to do was hit Esc to get rid of it but I didn't know what was happening. I even rebooted but it was still there. I thought that was clever.

Not to mention the Compliance Briefing this morning! That was a good one. Back in the day of analog phones, you could unscrew the mouthpiece and put a small piece of tape between the two metal prongs and the phone would no longer transmit the voice. This was done to me (among other things too), when I worked in a department of 17 men. Pretty funny. In this same department, we had cubicles with movable walls that were not bolted to the floor. Every night we moved one of the cubicle walls until the occupant couldn't even get in his office.

I loved the compliance updates they sent this morning:
"Reg Burden Reduction In yet another speech advocating the reduction of consumer disclosures to arrive at usable, yet informative content, Acting Comptroller of the Currency Julie Williams applauded the other regulatory agencies in their efforts to reduce the disclosure burden. She agreed that if the disclosures will not fit on a soup can in a 10 point font, they are not worth making since they would not be read. She admitted that she has not read the disclosures on the last three loans she obtained. "If I can't make sense of this mess, how can we expect a consumer to?" Effective immediately, she said, no banks will be cited for violation involving disclosures by the OCC. But since the OCC doesn't make disclosures, there would be little chance of abuse. She ended her prepared statement with the crowd as confused as when she started. Her assistant stated, "that is the point."
and
"Disclosure Requirements Repealed After a recent Congressional study of landfills across America revealed that 3% of the garbage consists of discarded disclosures provided to customers by financial institutions, Congress bowed to environmental lobby group pressure and repealed all consumer protection disclosure requirements effective immediately."

A similar prank I've used successfully is to change the settings so the mouse moves in reverse.

On of our officers had his office filled with packing popcorn. What a mess.

Our bank president has a habit of taking his wallet out when he gets to work. One day we swiped it and then one of the girls in operations called him and said "This is Candy from Vixens. (The local gentlemen's club.) You left your wallet here." He sputtered a few times and then asked what was in it. Luckily we had it right in front of us so she starting saying things that proved it was his. The hard part was catching him as he ran out the front door of the bank! This would probably work with a cell phone too.

One of the employees in our department is leaving today. So we borrowed her keys to her car, without her knowing, moved her car to the front of the bank and put a for sale sign in it. Someone even called and wanted to know how much she wanted for it.

I sent out an e-mail to "ALL" this afternoon: Quote:
Greetings,
Through our vendors, I have received word of a computer virus that is rapidly infecting PCs and their users. This virus, known as Malwararia.B, has been reported throughout the world, effectively hijacking computers and users, forcing them to send endless amount of SPAM and re-directing Web Browsers to http://leap04rile01foo05yeda, which has been reported as a Web site that distributes the infectious virus. This is the first computer virus that passes from PCs to humans has been discovered in the wild. Leading anti-virus firms are putting users on high alert after Malwararia.B was spammed worldwide in the early hours of Friday morning.
Apparently, users can contract the virus through use of their mouses, so it is advised that users wear latex gloves when handling their mouses. In addition, any suspicious e-mails or computer behavior should immediately be reported to (a coworker of mine) in the I/S department.
Thank you very much for your time and concern.

In college, one of my rooomates filled out a fast food restaurant job application for another roomie, ommitted SSN, but the guy got the job and the look on the face when he got the call to see when he would start was priceless. However, it was not the best choice of jokes, someone spent time reviewing the app.

The Mark and Brian radio show in Los Angeles did a prank several years in a row. They are on vacation right now so they didn't do it today. They would gradually turn down their voices and listeners would continue to turn up their radios thinking something was wrong. Then they would blast "You Really Got Me" by Van Halen. Your heart would leap right out of your throat. They got me once on that one, but some listeners would call up and admit that they fell for it year after year!
