Does anyone have a good (online or not?) resource to do a quick search to find a bank routing number or a bank name? We are having trouble locating banks of first deposit for large item notification.

Thanks in advance for any help.

This is what I use. It is from The Fed, but only includes banks who participate in Fedline wire system.

I found this searching the threads.

FedWire Participants, which includes many banks, https://www.fededirectory.frb.org/download.cfm

ACH participants http://www.fededirectory.frb.org/search_ACH.cfm

You can also sometimes Google a routing number and get some information.

I don't know who Greg Thatcher is, but I'd be wary of this database. I know he has our bank information wrong, so I don't know what else may also be wrong.

His page shows that he is a programmer. While he had my bank's info correct and I like the idea, I'd worry about updates as I don't know what the motivation is for the content. What if it became an often used source and was hacked with some bad info that assisted fraudulent check writers somehow. I guess I'm just saying it could be fly by night since I don't know why he would produce this.

Good eye, Jim.

Thanks for catching that. I actually did test several different bank's prior to using it, and they all came up accurate (we had even recently changed our name and it came up with the new name)

Fortunately, since I don't deal with operations I rarely use it; however I will probably look for a new source or at least be very cautious when I choose to use it.

Thanks again!
