What is the rule on stopping payment on an internal DDA account (i.e., Trust Dept, Controllers Dept, etc) check? Do we need to get signed authorization, etc?

Although these checks may not say "Cashier's Check", they may meet the definition. You definately need good documentation before one is returned unpaid. If it lost (and never presented), the documentation can be minimal.
