well, if I was in the world of construction or engineering, maybe it would make sense to me. However, I'm in the banking world, and have probably used a level less than 10 times in my life, so I deeply apologize if my lack of understanding on your colloquilism was considered to be dissing. Any my BIL is in the construction business, he likely uses a level daily, and I've never heard him uise this term either. As I make new friends, I'll see if any have heard this phrase, to ensure that I'm hanging with the "right crowd." This question will certainly simplify the "HappyGilmore Friend Application" that all new friends are required to complete, to ensure they meet CIP and BSA guidelines! Thanks for the heads up and the advice One needn't be in a certain world to have contact with it. One also can pick up colloquialisms through the fine art of reading. This one did not mean to infer that your lack of understanding was dissing. ::shudder:: (I do hate that word.) I also stated that I believe geography plays a large part in the colloquialisms one is exposed to. I'm learning that y'all truly do speak a different language below the Mason Dixon Line. Due to the fact I've not received the "HappyGilmore Friend Application" I will assume that this One is not included in that CIP/BSA controlled group either. lack of experience in construction trades is another reason Happy will never be a mod, just sayin'....

BTW - I've read probably over 10,000 books in my shorter-than-Pale's lifetime, and don't recall ever seeing that phrase...and some of these books didn't even have pictures! Oh well, Bob's your uncle...

that may be a low ball estimate, when I was a younger lad, I used to read 2 books a day in the summer, and 1 per day the rest of the year, and still generally I read 3-4 per week...
yes, I know it is in jest, but it is funny to watch Pale go crazy thinking it isn't and know he is chewing his Aricept trying to figure out if I need moderating or not...
from wiki:
Bob's your uncle is a commonly used expression known mainly in Britain, Ireland and Commonwealth nations. It is often used immediately following a set of simple instructions and carries roughly the same meaning as the phrase "and there you have it" or "you're all set"; for example, "To make a ham sandwich, simply put a piece of ham between two slices of buttered bread, and Bob's your uncle."
