My wife just finished "Still Alice" and thought it was a really tremendous book. I will probably read it, I'd like to see how it compares to Jane Rule's The Memory Board, a very good novel about caring for a parent with Alzheimer's.

Burnt Sienna - I have The Help in my to-read pile too. And I thought Drowning Ruth was excellent - one of those books you aren't sure you like, until the very last chapter, when all of a sudden your perspective is forced to shift. Pirate Latitudes is interesting, I'm sorry there won't be a sequel to it.

That was a good book. There's a new Reacher novel out, I have it on reserve at the library.

I've been reading mostly memoirs lately, though I don't know why.

Committed, by Elizabeth Gilbert? SUCKED. If you liked Eat Pray Love, her other well known book, Committed is COMPLETELY different.

Whip Smart by Melissa Febos was really good. While the author was in college, she became a dominatrix. And while parts of the book are about that (and some of the descriptions were ooky), it was more about how it affected her life and her relationships. At the same time, she was a heroin addict - one didn't directly cause the other - and that was part of the story too. I really liked it.

I Am Nujood, Age 10 and Divorced by Nujood Ali. She is the little girl from Yemen who was married off by her father at age 9 to a man who was 30. It's a short book, but Ms. Ali has had much happen to her in her short life.

I'm reading The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin right now. I'm about half way thru. It's pretty good.

Just finished Long Lost by Harlan Corbin...good read, but it is time for a new storyline...starting to get somewhat predictable...Bolitar gets jilted, bolitar finds a cause, bolitar gets injured, win comes to his aid, bolitar recovers to save the day, win tells him he is a girl, bolitar loses yet another girl...

Just finished Tami Hoag's "Prior Bad Acts" - good read! Picked up "City of Bones" (don't remember the author), but can't seem to get out of the first chapter. It just doesn't hold my attention and I can't make myself want to pick it back up.

So I'm simultaneously reading a series of essays by other authors commenting on Laurell K Hamilton's Anita Blake series and rereading "Danse Macabre" (one of the books from that series) while I wait for this week's new releases.

Not reading anything at the present time but my next book will be by either Lu Anne Rice ((not Anne Rice who writes about vampires) or by Maeve Binchy. These are my favorite authors!

heb, I like those authors too, especially Binchy. I am ready for her to come out with something new soon!

A while back, I found a prequel to the Anne of Green Gables books. (I don't recall the title or author at the moment.) I finally read it and am now re-reading the Anne series. Currently on number 5 of 8, and enjoying them even though I am a little older than the intended audience!

For those who like the costume drama, Phillipa Gregory is an excellent author. I've been reading her books surrounding the Henry VIII period (The Other Boelyn Sister). She has done meticulous research and ties it all together with very believable dialog and events.

I finished the new David Baldacci yesterday. Meh. It feels like a "filler" book and there's definitely another one with this same cast (Shaw, Katie James) coming, I'm sure.

Also yesterday I started the new Dana Stabenow. If you like mysteries and haven't tried her Kate Shugak series, you ought to.

Bill Simmons' "The Book of Basketball" (was good, not great), "Ball Four" by Jim Bouton (for about the 14th time), "The 100 Greatest Thoroughbreds of the 20th Century".

GenerousLife- are you reading them in chronological order or publishing order? I loved those books -I read them in chronological order. My favorite is actually the very last one- The Queens Fool. I liked the Other Bolyn Girl, but I thought the movie was a [censored] adaptation. It was a good movie, if you can forget it's suppossed to be based on a book.

Currently I'm reading the Septamus Heap series, and the Darkest Powers series. Both are teen fantasy- sometimes I like those better cause they are still good stories, but are quicker to read. Then I feel like I still got a book read, but I have other things done too!

I think I am about to start reading the books based off the Showtimes Series Dexter. I have heard they are really good and a little bit different from the series.

Within the past couple of weeks I have caught up with Patricia Brigg's Mercy Thompson series, read the most recent Sookie Stackhouse book Dead in the Family (meh), Covet by JR Ward and the fifth Women of the Otherworld book by Kelley Armstrong. It's been raining a lot here lately. smile

I just finished [censored] my father Says. It was a very quick read, only a couple of hours but it was amusing. I think my next book will be Teaching a Pig to Dance by Fred Thomspon
