I watched a bit of the 3rd place match between Uruguay and Germany on Saturday. It seemed to me that Uruguay dominated a good part of that game and just came up empty when opportunities presented themselves. Germany was pretty impressive, though.

Congrats to Spain in what was obviously a hard-fought match on Sunday. Nill-nill until the goal kicks? What an exciting day!! I would love to have been a fan in the stands!!

I told you, Pale....you gotta look at the games within the game. Watch the passing game (a lot like basketball, just more difficult)...look for defensive strategies. It is truly an incredibly difficult sport to play.

It was a well fought defensive game! Lots of missed chances on both sides for scored goals and both goalies I though rocked. I never thought Spain was going to pull it off though! Being the mother of a goalie, I totally hate to see a game won in the results of a shootout.

I saw plenty of bull. Spanish formula for victory: play keep-away all day long; flop, dive, and whine at every opportunity; score a goal late in the game.

I think Iniesta went to ground pretty easy when Robben fought through the same type of foul, but I didn't see anything in the match that I would classify as a dive or flop. And for the record, ESPN analysts were saying if Robben had gone to ground instead of fought through the challenge, that Pujol likely would have been sent off as well. I didn't hear anyone calling for him to flop or dive.
