Well, the word "needed" is in quotes, which would suggest that jokerman actually means something else.

My point is that it is a loaded term. Nikko would like us all to believe that an elite group can make these decisions better than the market. Nikko the Benevolent should make these determinations, tax us, and provide for us that which we would not be smart enough to choose on our own. Hail Nikko!

This thread is in regards to a different type of, ahem, gas. However, your tangent is logical, in that your nanny-state economics, well..., stink!

No, that's my libertarian economic theory. Your statism requires something like: "A few for the rest!"

You can view it how you want. I could clarify myself to make you understand my point of view but using this forum is too difficult. We could go back and forth all day. I'm not really in the mood to do that. Therefore, you can argue by yourself on what I have said previously. No ill will intended.

FINALLY ABOVE the gnat line
Well, in my little neck of the woods it's now $1.90 for regular and $2.10 for premium. GA supposed to be one of the cheapest gas tax states so our prices are usually lower.

Regular $2.03 yesterday, $2.13 today. You would never know the Saudis have agreed to increase production.

Here's a seven passenger vehicle that should solve the problem of high gas prices.

Regular is up to $2.12 in Fairbanks, AK, which is really sad since it's refined only 10 miles away from us.

Dawnie, why is it that gas is cheaper in Anchorage when it's refined in North Pole?

Husbands "new" 1995 Suburban from Father-in-law - $0
Look on husbands face when filling the 42 gallon tank - priceless

$87.78 for one trip to the pump folks. At this rate, I need a second job. (or third)

Thanks. It's just what came to this somewhat (okay, okay) Totally warped mind when I watched him fill the tank.

This may be one reason gas prices are so high. Somebody had to eat this loss. PLEASE NOTE the exhorbitant restitution this guy had to pay for stealing $203,000 worth of gas. It's absolutely ridiculous.

From David Letterman.

Top Ten Ways Dumb Guys Would Lower Gas Prices

10. Sell gas by the half-gallon

9. Sneak up to gas stations in the middle of the night and switch the price numbers

8. Cut out that expensive ingredient that gives it that delicious gas smell

7. Forget OPEC, start getting oil from Wal-Mart

6. Step one: Oprah buys all the gas. Step 2: Oprah gives the gas away.

5. Build time machine, drive back to 1965 when gas was cheap.

4. Fill car with root beer. Cars won't know no better.

3. Release the recipe so people can make their own

2. Drive really fast so you're not driving so long

1. Invade Iraq

I remember many moons ago, stations tried to sell gas by Litres....

The prices looked really low, but when you're getting just over a 1/4 of a gallon, of course they're going to look really low. Nobody could figure it out, so they gave up and switched back to gallons.

I think that was back in the late '70's or early '80's, when there was a big push to "go metric". Yeah, that worked really well...
