best thing about a superbowl I didn't care about...stayed home and didn't eat more than I should have, and no beer...so no worry about having to work twice as hard today to counter the superbowl meal...now, about this king cake I just finished...

I'm so excited. I'm down 12 lbs in 3 weeks. I already feel better. I've got about 40 more to go but I'm so motivated to keep going.

Still, one candy is way better than the daily trip to snack on fast food. I'm 38 days clean. laugh

I try really hard not to measure my health success by the scale but I still can't help but stand on it every morning. I've been shrinking but the scale has been very stubborn. I finally broke through this weekend (after 2 days of birthday cake, who knew) and am down 8lbs (in 2 months).

I ran my first marathon over the weekend. I am super sore and don't enjoy going down stairs at the moment but other than that it was a good experience.

The weather turned nasty here. I didn't see anyone on bikes or running today.

I really messed up my system but getting overheated last week so I'm headed to Yoga land for a few weeks. frown

We are getting rid of the 2 bikes we purchased from a big box store a few years ago... on sale for around $100 each (got what we paid for... but didn't want to invest in more until we knew biking would work out for us). We visited a local bike shop earlier this week and believe we will be purchasing the Raleigh Venture for each. We like a bike that we sit up more, rather than leaning over to the handlebar. Anyone have experience with this bike or would recommend something different?

I don't have biking advice basil but I just have to tell y'all. I'm still doing Weight Watchers and I've lost 10% of my starting weight as of this past week. I am ecstatic. I'm feeling so much better and have started working out again. Lots of resistance training and using my own body. I've still got a ways to go but I'm confident I can get there!

Basil - Trek, Felt, Specialized, KHS all make an upright bike, I would recommend all of these over a Raleigh. as with anything, you get what you pay for. but the quality of these bikes is pretty dang good.

I love my Felt! I think I rode at least a dozen different bikes at two separate bike shops before deicing on my Felt. Happy is the expert, but he is correct in that you get what you pay for. The best advice I ever got was to spend as much as I could on my first road bike and not be cheap. I've had it 4 years now and it's perfect for longer rides or sprint distances. If I had gone the cheap route as I'd originally intended, I would have wanted to trade up already.

Jen - my new Roubaix has a shock absorber built into the handlebar stem and seat post...huge difference in shock dampening...and better tire contact with road...
