I don't believe there is anything we can do about this situation, still wanted to get other's opinions. We have a customer who, according to branch personnel, appears to have developed perhaps some serious mental issues and has escalated to a point where they are concerned for her safety. She is calling 10-12 times a day to check her balance, seems paranoid and forgetting that she has called. Now, she has called saying someone has broken into her house and stolen her checkbook, came in, was frantic, kept repeating same questions over and over, then called again today saying someone stole her house key. The branch wondered if they could call the contact person listed on her account expressing concern for the customer's condition - contact person is not an owner on the account, is a sister but is listed as person to contact in the event we need to contact the customer for business purposes and are unable to locate them.

Again, I believe our hands are tied yet wondering if anyone has any advice to offer. Thanks!!!!!!

You could contact Adult Protective Services in your county. They should visit the person to determine the woman's safety, etc.

Agree with ocbeach. Some states have mandatory protective laws, including holding harmless referral contacts to protective services or other agencies..

This is all we can do as well. Sometimes it works out well, other times not so much. You have to go with doing what you can do
to help and let the family and authorities do their job. It is so sad when you have known these people for years and years to be forced to watch their decline. We have a lot of them..
